Brief
The LRD needed a new website, needing to migrate fragmented online services into one.
The new site had to meet both the core marketing requirements and be powerful enough to add core customer services over time. This includes an online article and knowledge portal and a pay and agreements database.
Client
The Labour Research Department (LRD) is an independent research organisation providing information to support trade union activity and campaigns.
Founded in July 1912, the LRD promotes and carries out research into problems of importance to labour, suppling information through a range publications and online.
Solution
The new site is built in the the powerful Drupal Content Management System, an enterprise class solution that can handle all the demands of the expanding website.
The emphasis is on growing the site to incorporate more client service. This involves a strong information architecture and working with the LRD to develop modern online services.
Growing an information hub
The design needed to be clean, easy to use and modern. It also needed to display well on all screen sizes. A responsive design was developed with a focus on making the content easy to read and share.
The LRD is actively growing the site, incorporating all their online services (Publications Online and the Payline database) into the one site through an ongoing modernisation program.
We also used our Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills to help improve the visibility of the site in search engines. Traffic to the site has grown exponentially since launch.
